ORL Brochure

Two-piece acetabular cup designs have gained a wide degree of clinical popularity in total hip arthroplasty procedures and their utilization has both clinical and theoretical advantages. However, metal-backed, modular designs necessitate the use of thinner polyethylene liners which may compromise in situ longevity due to increased surface stress. Additionally, there are numerous reports documenting the early in vivo impingement, dislocation, and disassembly of modular acetabular components. ORL has the expertise and test machines to perform ASTM F2582 and evaluate acetabular component fatigue, deformation, and wear and femoral head assembly dislocation under dynamic impingement conditions.
